‘Pebbles’ is a contemporary acrylic, sand and pastel painting on unframed, stretched canvas; it explores my interest in the textures, shapes and organic mark-making which I feel is apt to the subject.

The painting has dimensions of 59.5cm height x 42cm width, the edge is approx. 2cm deep and is painted dark blue. This is quite a textured piece but is finished with satin varnish which provides a soft sheen and durability. It is signed, dated and ready to hang with cord attached.

‘The long walk’ is an acrylic and pastel painting with the addition of beach sand gathered from Norfolk beaches.This piece relates to the feeling of walking along an ever-changing space, dominated by weather and water with all the emotions it provokes.

‘Stone and Lichen’ is a painting celebrating two of my favourite natural objects. Apart from the acrylic and pastel, I used tea, bleach, water, wax and sand on this piece, scraping and hosing it back until I found the textures I wanted. This painting needs good natural light to shine. It is finished in satin varnish to protect the surface and is painted on unframed, stretched canvas. ‘Heading out’ is inspired by the shapes of harbours, the surrounding landscape and the feeling of leaving a small space for vastness. ‘Seashells’ is inspired by my lifelong love of shells…in fact all things natural really! I have used Acrylic, Pastel, Pencil and beach sand in this painting, sot there is lots of sand texture to it. It’s finished in satin varnish and is on unframed, stretched canvas. the edge is painted in a complimentary pale green. Dimensions are 30cm width x 22.5cm height.

‘Connection’ is about how everything is ultimately linked; where the land meets the sky and both affect the way we translate the landscape. This painting is on stretched canvas in acrylic, pastel and satin varnish. It is then framed in a solid wood frame and painted in Farrow and Ball ‘Strong White’ no. 2001. ‘Balance’ fulfils lots of passions for me; pebbles, texture, space, colour and balance. It is painted on unframed, stretched canvas in acrylic, pastel, sand, tea and coffee grounds – I worked and worked until it gave me the textures I wanted. ‘A break in the cloud’ is inspired by the amazing skies and changeable weather that can be found on the Norfolk Coastline. This painting is of a wonderful walk close to my home in Norfolk, wonderful fresh greens and shadows in which to sit. ‘Flag Iris’ is an acrylic and pastel painting on stretched canvas, finished with satin varnish and sitting in a hand made solid wood frame, painted in Farrow and Ball Strong White no. 2001. It is signed, dated and ready to hang. Overall dimensions including frame are 61cm square.

‘The way to the Sea’ is a generic painting evoking the feel of walking through sand and grasses towards the Sea. It pretty much covers a lot of Norfolk beaches! The painting is on stretched canvas in acrylic, pastel and pencil finished with satin varnish. the frame is solid wood, handmade and painted by myself in Farrow and Ball Strong White no. 2001. I then gently rubbed some gold gilt onto the frame. It is signed, dated and ready to hang. Overall dimensions including the frame are 62cm width x 52cm height.

Before moving to Norfolk we spent a lot of time at the North Cornish coast; our favourite beach is Trebarwith Strand. It lies in all of our hearts. ‘Pebbles from Trebarwith’ is chunky little painting on unframed, stretched canvas. It is painted in acrylic with additions of beach sand, pastel and silver leaf. Seashells have long been a bit of an obsession of mine and I love painting them. ‘Moules’ capture three from a vast collection of shells I pick up whenever I’m on a beach.
